Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is one of the apatite group which has a structure similar to human bone hard tissue. Sonochemical is one of the methods for the synthesis of nanoscale HA. The principle of the sonochemical method is utilizing ultrasonic waves with a frequency above human hearing is above 20 kHz radiated into solution. One of the basic materials that can be utilized for the synthesis of HA is calcite stone form Druju Malang. The calcite stone containing 99% Ca potentially as a source of calcium for HA synthesis.


In this study Ca(OH)2 from calcite stone obtained using aquabidest dissolved until a concentration of Ca(OH)2 1M . while the phosphate source used in this study is H3PO4 0.6 M . Synthesis process carried out in an ultrasonic bath with a variation of the time sonication are 1 2 3 and 4 hours. To control the pH in the range 9-10 then sprinkled with NH4OH into solution. PH control is very important because a decrease in pH value would lead to the formation of calcium -deficient apatite structure. After sonication stage is completed then performed a filter washing using distilled water and final drying at 100 ° C for 24 hours.


From the XRD results obtained  100 % compound of HA formed at  2 3 and 4 hours . HA formed only 88 % at 1 hour sonication while the rest is still in the form of CaCO3. Value ratio Ca/P HA synthesis results for a sonication time 1 hour 2 hours 3 hours and 4 hours of sequential was 1.79 1.61 1.65 1.77 and the grain  size was 29.56 nm  27.20 nm 26.37 nm and 30.99 nm. These results indicate that the ratio of Ca/P is approaching the ideal value of HA formed on sonication 3 hours and the smallest instrument grain size obtained at 3 hours  sonication. But at 4 hours there was an increase in grain size and ratio Ca/P is greater than the ideal HA. SEM results showed that longer sonication time of diminishing levels of particle agglomeration. TEM results for HA with longer sonication 3 hours still showed agglomeration but morphology of HA seen rod-shaped . Vicker hardness value increase with the length of sonication time for variation 1 2 and 3 hours but at 4 hours Vicker Hardness values ​​down . Vicker hardneness HA synthesis results are respectively 469.2 588.05 640.08 and 469.53 kg/mm2.
